Critical power requirement
The hospital needed sufficient emergency generation to support operating theatres, intensive-care facilities, IT, communications and lighting during grid outages. The standby plant also needed to operate in parallel as a coordinated system.
Four-set Blackwell solution
Blackwell supplied four acoustic generator sets powered by Perkins 4008TAG2A engines. Each set provides 1,100 kVA standby output and is configured for synchronised parallel operation, allowing the available plant to share load and provide system resilience.
Designed for healthcare duty
Sound-insulated canopies reduce environmental noise while the control arrangement allows the generators to start and accept load rapidly. The installation was designed around relevant ISO 8528, CE and quality-management requirements.
The system has supported the hospital since its installation in November 2018, backed by the serviceability and international parts availability of the Perkins engine platform.
