Provide the IT and cooling loads, starting currents and expected load steps. Review the generator's kW capacity and alternator kVA together, including site temperature, altitude and a realistic expansion allowance.

Confirm the UPS model, input characteristics, recharge demand and allowable voltage and frequency variation. Agree ATS or switchgear operation, load sequencing and interfaces with your electrical contractor.

Define the required operating duration and fuel delivery plan. Allow space for tanks, maintenance access, ventilation, exhaust and lifting, and identify the site's acoustic and environmental requirements early.

Agree the commissioning and load bank test scope before ordering. Plan functional transfer tests with the site team, document settings and operating procedures, and establish the ongoing maintenance schedule.
N+1 adds reserve capacity beyond the equipment needed to serve the design load. A 2N arrangement uses two complete capacity paths. The right approach depends on the wider electrical architecture, maintenance strategy and failure scenarios. Generator controls and switchgear must be designed as part of that system.

A supply-only generator price will not include every cost of an installed backup power system. We prepare project quotations with an agreed scope so buyers can compare the proposed equipment and services.
No. The UPS supports connected critical loads during the interval before the generator starts and the supply transfers. The generator then provides longer-duration backup power. Generator and UPS compatibility, battery recharge demand and the transfer sequence need to be checked together.
We can discuss multiple-generator packages, synchronising controls and load-sharing requirements. The final proposal depends on the electrical design, protection, switchgear and required redundancy. Specify whether you need a single set, N+1 capacity or separate redundant power paths when requesting a quote.
No. Standby, prime and continuous ratings have different operating conditions. Any manufacturer-specific Data Centre Continuous (DCC) rating must be confirmed for the exact generator set. An engine brand or a headline standby kVA figure alone does not establish suitability for the required load and operating hours.
No. A facility's Tier requirements involve the wider infrastructure and its design, operation and assessment. Generator selection must follow the project's specified requirements; purchasing a generator or adding a spare set does not certify the data centre.
